Nitrogen Servicing | Superior Capabilities & Benefits | Superior's Mobile Nitrogen Equipment | Superior Plant Services | Superior Transport and Purging Services

Superior Well Services' nitrogen services offer new and reliable equipment with experienced personnel. Superior is committed to our nitrogen services. Our engineers and service personnel bring many years of experience and training to every jobsite. The Superior nitrogen system and equipment is carefully designed and maintained to obtain the optimum results for your nitrogen pumping requirements.

Nitrogen Servicing

Nitrogen services are used in well construction, pipeline and industrial services. Nitrogen, an inert gas, is used to circulate wellbores, stimulate well bores, foam cement slurries, purge and test pipelines and purge and test boilers and pressure vessels.

Because Nitrogen is inert, it has many applications as a non-flammable and non-reactive gas for oil and natural gas operations, fuel transportation and storage services and chemical processes using flammable and reactive agents. Many applications use nitrogen as the internal foam agent, an extender to slurries and grouts, an inert purging gas or as an energized gas.

Liquid nitrogen is transported to the jobsite in truck mounted insulated storage vessels. The liquid nitrogen is pumped under pressure via high pressure pump into a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger converts the liquid to a gas at the desired discharge temperature.

Superior Capabilities & Benefits

Capabilities
Superior's network of service centers can schedule nitrogen services for any well in any location. Based on the services required, a nitrogen crew and equipment meeting the requirements will be dispatched to the jobsite. With new equipment and experienced personnel you can be assured the job will be done right.

Pumping Rates
Superior can provide up to 12,000 SCF/min per pumping unit at discharge temperatures of 100F.

Pumping Pressure
Pumping units are capable of pumping pressures of 8,000 psi.

Product Capacity
Pumping units and product transports have unit capacities of 280,000 SCF.

Key Benefits
- Experienced and trained personal deliver dependable nitrogen services at your jobsite.
- Newly designed equipment and proven technologies maximize product and reduce equipment requirements.

Superior's Mobile Nitrogen Pumping Equipment

Mobile Self Contained Nitrogen Pumping Unit
These units are capable of pumping at pressures of up to 8,000 psi and at gaseous nitrogen discharge rates from 60,000 scfh to rates in excess of 600,000 scfh. The mobile truck mounted units are equipped with 3000-gallon capacity liquid nitrogen storage tanks.

Superior uses electronic controls and advanced hydraulics to develop modern, fired nitrogen pumpers. The truck power plant is used to power the liquid high pressure pump, while an auxiliary diesel engine is used to power the direct-fired vaporizer. This results in a safer, simpler and more efficient fired nitrogen pumping unit. This type of equipment enables Superior to offer one of the widest ranges of nitrogen pumping services available in the industry.

Nitrogen Transport
Superior has a range of mobile nitrogen transports available. Transports range from 280,000 to 560,000 SCF. Some transports can deliver product at 1,000,000 scfh. Transports use tank pressure and hydraulically operated booster pumps to transfer liquid nitrogen to the pumpers.

Superior Plant Services

Precision pressure, temperature and inventory control are required in many process and systems throughout the industrial segment. Nitrogen is used to perform inerting, drying and power services on a daily basis. Each use of nitrogen requires a certain property and expected benefit within the processing segment. Some typical applications of Superior's mobile pumping within the processing segment are:

  • Catalyst Regeneration / Degassing Purging / Inerting
  • Dry Air Ventilation for Moisture Reduction
  • Gas Freezing for Hot Work Repairs
  • Lower Explosive Limits (LEL)
  • Pressure Testing
  • Pneumatic Power
  • Back-up Nitrogen Systems
  • Plant Changeovers

Superior Transport and Purging Services

Transport Services
Large volumes and precisely controlled delivery of nitrogen is required in the transportation industry. Nitrogen is used because of its inert nature to displace and purge flammable liquids. Nitrogen's favorable properties also allow it to be used to dry containers. The thermal delivery properties of nitrogen allow for cooling, freezing and heating operations to be conducted with an inert, dry material. Some typical applications of Superior's mobile pumping services within the transportation industry are:

  • Purging/Inerting
  • Product Displacement
  • Dry Air Ventilation for Moisture Reduction
  • Gas Freezing for Hot Work Repairs
  • Gas Commissioning
  • Coolant Supply

Purging Services
Nitrogen inerting, lowering explosive limits or purging is the replacement of an atmosphere of undesired composition in an enclosed vessel with another atmosphere of preferred composition. The atmosphere preferred is typically an inert gas, such as nitrogen. Purging is typically required to prevent fire or explosions where flammable or explosive materials are present. Purging is also required to avoid unwanted reactions between materials being handled and the atmosphere.
