Cleaning Services

The primary objective of cleaning a pipeline for an ILI tool Inspection is to remove debris that could cause the following:
- Stuck Tool
- Poor quality data due to lifting of sensor pads from pipe wall
Mechanical action; Cleaning debris from the pipe wall is best performed by employing mechanical action with varying types of pigs from: foam, abrasive foam, and brush to clean suspended debris so that it can be removed from the pipeline prior to an ILI tool inspection.
Chemical action; Chemicals provide the necessary chemical reaction to soften and loosen suspend debris so that it can be removed from the pipe with a mechanical pig.
Tailoring a chemical for the particular debris or deposit found in the pipe is best achieved by obtaining a sample.
Repeating the application of chemical treatment and mechanical pig trains maybe necessary to eventually clean the pipe wall. The use of increasingly more aggressive pigs to remove the debris will increase the amount of surface area for the chemicals to react with. Depending on initial cleanliness and pipe length, repeat pigging runs up to 4 to 6 times may be necessary. The best indicator that one has of the overall effectiveness of the cleaning is the visual inspection of the cleaning pig's condition and the quantity of debris as it is recovered from the pipe. Field experience is a valuable part of identifying the most cost effective cleaning requirements needed prior to an ILI inspection.
